This production, created in 1996, is the first part of Giacomo Ravicchio's series of four plays inspired by the elements earth, air, water and fire.

It has received wide acclaim for its powerfully visual language of the theatre, ingenious design, and especially for its beautiful and impossible love story, whose threads stretch from our distant past up to the year 2000.

Synopsis of part 1  :

The news photographer Emil Hansen receives a letter from a girlfriend from his youth, Helena.

In his thoughts he travels back to the fifties; to the day he discovered the mummified body of a 2000-year-old man while digging in a peat bog, "The Tollund Man ".

Emil remembers how this incident changed his life, sending him on a life-long journey around the world, away from Helena. He feels that his fate is in some strange way linked to that of the man from the past.

Does The Tollund Man have some message for Emil, or need to understand something through him?
